Independent, Rigorous Safety& Environmental
Review Process
– and Public Scrutiny
First and foremost, Clearwater Port is committed
to building and operating a safe and environmentally sound natural gas
receiving terminal. So Clearwater Port is doing whatever it takes to
meet or exceed the strict safety and environmental standards of local,
state and federal regulatory authorities - which will be independently
verified through rigorous analysis by unbiased experts, and will be
subject to wide-ranging and comprehensive public scrutiny and debate.
The first step of this process requires the
project be reviewed under the requirements of both the National Environmental
Policy Act (NEPA) and the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
The U.S. Coast Guard and the California State Lands Commission will
prepare a joint Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and Environmental
Impact Report (EIR). This document will then be made available for review
and comment by the public and other government agencies.
Before going
forward, Clearwater Port must be approved by the following independent

Guard
